Tributes to deceased members

Here we give tribute to three of our members who have died and gone to that big anagram place in the sky.

Dan Etter

Dan was a skilled anagrammatist and long-time Anagrammy regular who died suddenly on the 16th of April 2000 at his home in Bloomington, Indiana at the tragically early age of thirty-five.

The Daniel F. Etter Memorial Award for Anagrammatist of The Year was created in his honour.

Mick Tully

Mick was a highly prolific anagrammatist and long-time alt.anagrams and Anagrammy regular who died on the 16th of August 2010 at his home in London at the age of sixty.

The Mick Tully Memorial Award for the Most Consistent Anagrammatist of The Year was created in his honour.

Larry Brash

Larry was the principal founder of the Anagrammy Awards Forum, which fully migrated from usenet in 1999. He was the Awardsmaster for 18 years and a highly skilled and respected anagrammatist winning hundreds of awards over many years of posting. He stepped down from his position in 2016 and had some time away, returning with a new identity, Christine Parker, later that year. Larry died aged 69 on the 23rd of November 2017 at his home in Newcastle, Australia from complications related to pancreatic cancer. Professionally, Larry was a psychoanalyst and he honed his skills in website design running The Seahorse Society of New South Wales and pursuing an interest in the artist Artemisia Gentileschi.

The Larry Brash Award for Talent Spotting was created in his honour. It recognises the forum member who has selflessly put forward the most nominations that go on to win awards during a year.
