The Anagrammy Awards Results - November, 2005

We had 51 votes this month, which is still a little below average, but it was actually the highest ever number of votes for a November competition. See Number of Voters Page (in a new window) for details.

Thankfully, there were no outages this month. The only glitches were a couple of instances of multiple votes being received. These were easily fixed.

This month, there were very few close categories. There was a wide spread of winners, with 11 people winning a total of 14 awards.

GENERAL:

By halfway through Day One, I was delighted to see that I had opened a good eight point lead over View and Adrian. By the end of the second day, that lead had expanded to 13 points over David and Adrian tied for second place. I ended up 20 points ahead by the close of voting.

This was my first win in General since May 2004. I have won eight awards this year and have now reached a career total of 94 awards. David's third place award nets him 12 wins for the year and 76 awards all-up.

The start was very close, with Ellie just one point ahead after 12 hours. It was still close at 24 hours with Ellie four points clear. Ellie polled more solidly as the contest progressed, moving 12 points ahead by 48 hours and finishing a comfortable 21 points clear at the end.

Ellie has won eleven awards in this, her first year.

SPECIAL:

It has been nice to see James H. Young back with us in the Forum. James was the creator of some excellent long anagrams back in 2001: click here for more details.

After downloading Anagram Artist, he kindly anagrammed the webpage comparing Anagram Artist with Anagram Genius. The voters obviously liked the result.

James took a twelve point early lead on Day One. Tony kept fairly close behind, but could never narrow the gap enough to win.

James has won a total of seven awards.

Great performance from Tony for his second place. Tony has really advanced with his abilities in the Long and Special categories. His two awards this month give him a total of 15 for this year and a career total of 20 wins.

Adrian did well to keep Mey out of the placegetters (a rare event indeed!). Adrian won two awards this month, six for this year and has 59 wins on the All-Time Table.

Paul's win was his second this year, bringing his total awards won to eleven.

AWARDMASTER'S AWARD FOR THE BEST ANAGRAM OF A NON-WINNING AUTHOR

As there was only one close category with a second placegetter who did not win an award, the decision was very easy this month.

Linda Garner with:
Mark Twain, Samuel Langhorne Clemens =
All Americans knew gentleman's humor.

This was Linda's first award. Congratulations!

Congratulations to all the winners. Thank you all for voting.
